SEATTLE (Reuters) - An empty Japanese fishing boat drifting off the coast of western Canada could be the first wave of 1.5 million tons of debris heading toward North America from Japan's tsunami last March. The wreckage from flattened Japanese coastal towns - including refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, roofs and fishing nets - is heading inexorably east across the Pacific and could arrive sooner than expected, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. .. …

Bengals open to WR Simpson despite drug case

27 March 2012

PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) Coach Marvin Lewis says the Cincinnati Bengals are open to offering receiver Jerome Simpson another contract even though he could be headed to jail and faces a suspension from the NFL for violating its substance abuse policy. Lewis told reporters at the NFL's owners meetings on Tuesday that he wouldn't ''rule it out'' that the club could offer the free-agent receiver another contract. Simpson has spent his four NFL seasons with the Bengals. Simpson pleaded guilty on March 1 to a drug-related charge resulting from 2 pounds of marijuana shipped to his home in September. Prosecutors recommended a 60-day jail stay. A judge will decide whether to lessen the punishment at a hearing on April 5. Simpson also faces a possible four-game suspension from the NFL.

Terence Newman Visited The Bengals This Week

22 March 2012

Former Dallas Cowboys’ cornerback Terence Newman visited the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, just around a week after being released by the Cowboys in order to clear cap space and make room for free agent corner Brandon Carr. Bengals’ head coach Mike Zimmer, who was not in Cincinnati on Monday, said from the University of Texas’ Pro Day this week that he believes Newman could be a fit with the Bengals, who have been known to sign castoffs from Dallas--including, recently, DT Tank Johnson and CB Adam “Pacman” Jones. What’s more, Newman played under Zimmer for the first four seasons of his career, while Zimmer was the defensive coordinator in Dallas. "I've known Terence for so long," Zimmer said Tuesday, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram . "You know sometimes it's just good for guys to get a change and get a new start on things. I always loved Terence. I always thought he was a good, competitive kid with a lot of ability. I think sometimes you get in different systems and things work out better for you, because it's a better scheme fit or whatever. I'm not saying it is or it isn't. “I know when I had him, which was a few years, so you've got to see that in person, but I know what kind of person he is. I know what kind of character he has. And I know how he would fit in with our football team. To me, that's important, too.” Stay on top of the latest Dallas Cowboys news with NBCDFW.com. Kristen Stewart And Robert Pattinson: Who Wore A…

20 March 2012

Kristen Stewart at WonderCon in Anaheim, California, on March 17, and Robert Pattinson in Toronto on July 7, 2011. Photo: Getty Images/Splash News Well, isn't this interesting. Both Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson turned up wearing the same vintage pullover several months apart. The Twilight twosome showed their Cincinnati Bengals team spirit in a similar fashion by sporting the sweater over a white tee with jeans. K Stew wore the cozy top while at WonderCon over the weekend with a quilted Balenciaga leather jacket and long, luscious locks. Last July, R Pattz was spotted wearing the sweater after a night of filming Cosmopolis in Toronto. He didn't play favorites and mixed up his team pride with a San Diego Padres baseball cap to finish the look. But is no one else thinking what we're thinking: How did the exact same sweater show up on R Pattz one moment and K Stew the next? Somebody is sharing clothes! We're secretly really giddy at the fact that Kristen and Robert might possibly be swapping pieces from the same wardrobe because this is SO. CUTE. *squee* We love the idea of the whole boyfriend-girlfriend outfit-sharing thang and imagine how many of R Pattz's tees we might've spotted on K Stew and never even knew . We can barely handle all this amazingness at once, but we need to get down to business and figure out who wore this sweater better. Hmmm, this is a toughie since they're both rocking it in very similar ways, but we can't deny K Stew's INCREDIBLE Balenciaga jacket, so we're going to have to give her some extra style points there. But tell us who YOU think won this fashion face-off in the comments below! Like us on Facebook so we can be friends and follow us on Twitter @MTVstyle to talk. Bengals re-sign Nelson, sign former Texans…

20 March 2012

CINCINNATI - The Bengals on Monday announced two moves to help bolster the team's secondary in 2012. Cincinnati re-signed safety Reggie Nelson and signed cornerback Jason Allen. Both were unrestricted free agents. Nelson led the Bengals in interceptions last season with four and continues to be one of the hardest hitting safeties in the NFL. Cincinnati acquired Nelson (the 21st overall pick in 2007 out of Florida) from the Jaguars in September 2010. He started every game for the Bengals last season. Several teams, including the New York Jets, were interested in Nelson this offseason. However, it was his relationship with head coach Marvin Lewis and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer that led to his decision to re-sign with the Bengals, according to reports. Allen, a former first round pick of the Miami Dolphins in 2006, played in all 18 games with Houston Texans in 2011 Ironically, it was the Texans who eliminated the Bengals from the playoffs last season. He joined Houston during the 2010 season and had seven interceptions over 23 total regular season games with the Texans, tops on the team for that span and also tied for second among all AFC cornerbacks. News about Allen's signing broke Saturday night, but the Bengals did not confirm the move until Monday. “These signings are obviously a huge plus for our secondary,” said head coach Marvin Lewis. “Reggie and Jason are physical players who have had success and are entering the prime years of their careers. Reggie helped us get to the playoffs last year, and Jason helped Houston get there and advance beyond us. They are good players who have the opportunity to keep improving." On Saturday, the Bengals signed veteran guard Travelle Wharton, who spent his first eight NFL seasons with Carolina. In other Bengals news on Monday, the team visited with the following free agents: Tight end Joelle Dressen, cornerback Terrance Newman, running back Benjarvus Green-Ellis and defensive end Derrick Harvey. Mike McGlynn, who played in seven games with four starts on the Bengals' offensive line last season, signed with the Indianapolis Colts on Monday. Copyright 2012 Scripps Media, Inc.
