Carson Palmer would rather retire than return to the Cincinnati Bengals, WCPO-TV said, citing the quarterback.
“I have $80 million in the bank,†the Cincinnati television station cited Palmer as saying in a report on its website. “I don’t have to play football for money. I’ll play it for the love of the game but that would have to be elsewhere.â€
The Bengals may seek to trade Palmer rather than let him retire, the report said.
The 31-year-old Palmer has been a Bengal since being chosen by Cincinnati with the first overall pick in the 2003 National Football League draft. Palmer’s request to be traded after the Bengals finished 4-12 last season was denied by team owner Mike Brown, the Associated Press said Feb. 7.

Former Missouri Tigers QB Blaine Gabbert has been connected to a lot of different teams as we go through and look at all the various 2011 NFL mock drafts out there. Occasionally, you see the Carolina Panthers at No. 1 overall, and then there’s the Buffalo Bills at No. 3 and Arizona Cardinals at No. 5. The Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers are in the top 10, as are the Washington Redskins.
One team we rarely saw him connected to — Cincinnati Bengals, who pick fourth. It’s an interesting place to look at because right now they have QB Carson Palmer, and we’re not sure they’ll have him for long. Palmer has requested a trade this offseason and threatened to retire if it doesn’t. Though the Bengals won’t grant him a trade, they’re kicking the tires on quarterback options in the draft.
That includes Gabbert.Â
As someone who wants to see Gabbert do well, going to Cincinnati would be a nightmare. There’s some talent in place but Cincinnati is known as the type of place that doesn’t do everything they can to help their players succeed (unlike Dallas or Washington, where there are examples of that working and failing). Palmer has a ton of talent and went to the playoffs just twice since the Bengals made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2003 NFL draft. Not many folks are happy about going to play for Cincinnati. There’s a reason for that. The upside, or the light at the end of the tunnel, doesn’t seem to be there.
So, in my mind, Cincinnati wouldn’t be a good destination (and, while we’re on the subject, Buffalo may not be the best place for success, either).Â

NFL star/television personality Terrell “T.O” Owens isn’t exactly known for his modesty, and the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver made it quite clear where he sees himself once his football career comes to a close.
“I’ll be in Hollywood on the big screen,” he told FOX411′s Pop Tarts at the Grey Goose Lounge Super Bowl soiree in Dallas, TX last weekend. “I did a comedy this past summer called ‘Dysfunctional Friends’ (co-starring Stacey Dash and Stacy Keibler) with a great cast, hopefully that’s a stepping stone for more work.”
And T.O has already determined that his acting abilities are pretty advanced.
“With my body type, everyone is talking about me doing action films but I want to go and show my range,” he continued. “Comedy was a good stepping stone, but there’s more I can do. We’ll see.”
But before leaving the NFL for the bright lights of Hollywood, Owens has one important goal. In true T.O style, he wants to switch teams (again) to one that “will actually win the Super Bowl.”
“Hopefully I can go to a team where I have a legitimate shot of going to the Super Bowl and actually winning,” he said. “I’ve been there once and we came up short, so I need to get there again and actually win it.”
On that note, he thinks he might be the one to help the New York Jets make that Super Bowl touchdown.
“I’m a free agent, if the situation is right (I would go.) They are a great team, they’ve proven themselves and gotten to the AFC (American Football Conference) championships two years in a row,” Owens explained. “If I can come in and be of some help and try to get them over the hump than I’ll welcome it.”
And if there is one thing Owens excels at (aside from football) it is tooting his own horn – and he has no regrets about any past controversies, temper tantrums or explosive comments about teammates or the opponents.
“I’ve done a great job as far as the things I’ve done on the field, you can put what I’ve done on the field versus what I’ve done off the field against any player in the league and I feel like it stands up there with the best of them,” Owens added. “I play hard, I play with a lot of passion on the field and I keep my nose clean off the field, so anyone that wants to question my character, then we’ll see what kind of answers you’re going to get.”
And even though Owens was released from the Dallas Cowboys after the 2008 season, amid rumored conflict with QB Tony Romo, the 37-year-old still enjoyed returning to his old stomping grounds for Super Bowl weekend.
“It feels good to be here, like I never left. It feels bittersweet,” Owens added. “I’ve still got a lot of friends here from the team, and it is a great opportunity for the city of Dallas to have the Super Bowl here.”

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) – The Cincinnati Bengals have signed new safety Marvin White to the team.

Power Rankings: Preseason: No. 12. This week: No. 26 . 2010 schedule/results Where they stand: In addition to the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings , the Cincinnati Bengals are among the NFL’s biggest underachievers this season. Coming off a division sweep and playoff appearance in 2009, many expected Cincinnati to build on that success with another playoff push. But sloppy play, poor …

As a die-hard Cowboys fan, the 2010 Cincinnati Bengals are quite the interesting case study. Not only are they looking to build on the unexpected division-winning success from last year, but they are looking to do so by adding many of the same malcontents, hooligans, and rabble-rousers that single-handily allowed the 2008 Dallas Cowboys’ season to devolve into absolute tomfoolery (yes I …

We all caught a quick glimpse of what the pairing of Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens will mean for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2010, and while it was short-lived, it was also fairly unimpressive. Carson Palmer completed just two passes and the Bengals offense looked ill-prepared against the Dallas Cowboys . Then again, it was just the first preseason game of August, and this team has almost an …

The Cincinnati Bengals aren’t sure how long running back Brian Leonard will miss because of an injured left foot. Leonard hurt the foot during a 16-7 loss to Dallas in the Hall of Fame game on Saturday. Leonard, the Bengals’ top pass-catching threat out of the backfield, initially feared he had torn ligaments and might have to miss the season.
